Elementary
Grades K–5
Character Jar
Write examples of showing respect and responsibility on slips of paper and add them to a jar. Read a few together each evening.
Family Role-Play
Act out everyday situations and talk about respectful choices, taking responsibility, and what to do when we make a mistake.
Helping Hands Challenge
Let each family member choose one responsibility at home for the week. Celebrate following through and helping one another.
Middle School
Grades 6–8
Conversation Challenge
Pick a weekly topic and have a 15-minute conversation where everyone listens without interrupting and takes responsibility for their words.
Respectful Disagreement
Share different opinions respectfully. Practice using “I statements,” listening, and owning your response even when you disagree.
Responsibility Check-In
Each person shares one responsibility they are working on this week and one way the family can support them.
High School
Grades 9–12
Respect & Responsibility in Action
Identify one way to show respect or responsibility this week at home, school, work, or in your community—then follow through.
Goal-Setting Discussion
Talk about goals for the school year and how responsibility, follow-through, and mutual respect can help everyone succeed.
Digital Responsibility Check
Review how your family communicates online and discuss how respect, good judgment, and responsibility apply in digital spaces.
